Intro

“Music fascinates me as a mean of expression, which we can use when the efficiency of words reaches its border. Music is capable of expressing thoughts more broadly, of helping mental, non-material perception. I consider the music to be something spiritual, since it enables connecting of minds of people physically distant. The greatest treasure of music I see in bringing joy to a man. A joy to the one who creates it and the one who listens to it.

GRAMODESKA 2008 (Gramo-disc 2008) Gots Its Winners

The second volume of this competition has brought new rules – especially dividing competitors into two categories (25 and 30 years) which appeared to be optimal. Younger and older participants also received equivalent album time which means a double-album is going to be created by winners of Gramodeska 2008. I dare to say this is going to be a really variegated compilation of young people’s compositions which will hardly have a competitor of equal value in Czech and Slovak Republic this year.

The competition does not have an ultimate winner. Judges deliberately do not differ among first, second and third place as to points, because these positions are commonly equally superior and an aim of this musical project is not to establish a winner in music.

It Was a Really Pleasant Thursday Evening Happening…

On Thursday April 3rd 2008 in the evening the pianist Johny Krekáň held a concert with his musical guests Michal Lorinc (percussion), Pavol Kaňuch (contrabass), and Matúš Jeňo (saxophone). This concert happened at an occasion of releasing a new album EXPERIMENTAL MODE. Right in the beginning the actual release of the CD took place, for which Johny´s favorite drink was used. The introductory CD gravied by beer was given to Veritas – the centre of culture in where this event took place. During a concert, which lasted an hour, there were presented compositions not only from the new album, but also from authors like Elton John, Norah Jones, John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton, as well as a well-known piece belonging to a winter nostalgy of Košice Main Street, Forever In Love by Kenny G. The whole concert had a restful atmosphere, many had opportunity to relax and gain inner energy. It was a really pleasant Thursday evening happening…
